GitHub Universe was my opportunity to finally fly to a conference this year, and Ewa managed to package and ship js13kGames 2023 swag - it seems November was pretty decent in terms of the job done, which is nice.
Announcing winners, sending prizes, collecting shipping details - with no surprise at all, October still mostly revolved around the js13kGames 2023 competition.
The first half, or even two thirds, of September's time went straight into js13kGames 2023. The rest of the month was spent on trying to catch up on all the other things.
Beside being busy with the js13kGames competition as usual every August since 2012, we also celebrated the 500th issue of the Gamedev.js Weekly newsletter - the first one was sent at the beginning of January 2014.
With no surprise at all, during July the js13kGames preparations took over the entire month.
It's been five hundred weeks, or 3500 days since the beginning of January 2014 when I started publishing the Gamedev.js Weekly newsletter. Time flies so fast!
I haven't written a single line of code since the last game we've released more than two years ago, so I'm happy to report that in June I did join a game jam, and submitted an entry!
Our own template we use for all our games, Enclave Phaser Template, was just updated to the latest version of the underlying game engine - Phaser 3.60.
May still mostly revolved around Gamedev.js Jam 2023 - from preparing and announcing the overall winners and results of all the challenges, to sending all the prizes.
As you might've imagined, April was 100% about Gamedev.js Jam 2023. Good news is we've finally launched Gamedev.js Shop with cool swag!
We've focused on the Gamedev.js Jam 2023 preparations in March, but some cool unrelated things happened last month as well.
Another year - another new Neuroshima Hex army pack. This time it's Pirates, and so the NSHex Counter app that allows the board game fans to track the current state of their stack of tokens left was updated.
Last month we've focused on doing one thing right - preparing and shipping the long overdue 130 packages with js13kGames 2022 swag: t-shirts, coasters, and stickers.
January was suppose to be a fresh start after not so successful 2022 (to say the least) - I can't say we did all what we wanted, since we didn't (flu season is still on), but we did some of that.
The first half of the year went rather ok, the second - not so good. From the current point of view it seems those were the worst twelve months since at least a couple of years, if not ever - various health issues of all our bunch made us fail to deliver multiple projects planned for 2022.
Just before Christmas the Gamedev.js Weekly's email was used as the sender address to deliver some ridiculous amounts of random spam to folks who weren't even subscribed to the actual newsletter - I've received hundreds of hateful replies to my inbox on December 24th.
December was on a similar level to the previous couple of months, so not much has been done even though attempts were made.
